One of the most varied eggs reproduced by any bird, the Guillemot displays a whole host of individual markings on it’s single pointed egg. These eggs were collected both for a food source and for their upmost beauty. This beautifully arranged study shows the variation between eggs, depicting eggs that are heavily blotched, scribbled and sparcely marked. Not only do these superb eggs vary in pattern but also dramatically in colour, showing eggs that are stoney white through to sky blue or rusty red. The eggs are extremely pointed to ensure when dislodged on the cliff face they turn in a tight circle preventing the eggs from falling over the edge.
