Terns

These beautiful sleek like sea birds with swallow like features and wings as sharp as knives, are native to our British coastlines. A sad decline in numbers mainly due to the take up of beaches and spits for holiday homes has resulted in breeding pairs falling since the 1930’s. With clutches mainly laid amongst fine shingle and shells these eggs all display a remarkable ability to camouflage with their surroundings. A stunning array of all-over blotching and scribbles with each species having its own unique stone coloured ground, make this a delightful example of nature at its best.
