Coastal islands are the preferred nesting grounds for these large terns. Commonly two eggs are laid in a hollow scoop in the sand close to the seashore, within a few dry twigs or other debris collected around the edge. These large tainted cream eggs are beautifully decorated with dark amber and black blotches along with grey and dark lilac markings. A handsome example of a birds egg, with a distinct pear shaped appearance. The Sandwich Tern egg is part of a set of 7 individual specimens which can be framed singularly or in a multi window mount.
